Renaissance Artists

Renaissance patrons wanted art that showed feeling. During this period art was more life like and all of the paintings showed depth. Bodies in the paintings looked solid and had backgrounds. One artist, was Giotto, he was the first to paint with this new style that showed real emotion.

Renaissance Literature

First known novel of Chivalry, Amadias of Gaul, was printed in 1508. It served as a model for the novels of Chivalry that became very famous, and the most popular genre in Spain.

The later part of the 16th century made up the great era of Spanish literature, known as the Golden Age. At the start of this period the poet Garilasso de la Vega succeeded in mastering the meter and essence of Spanish poetry.

Inventors

Ferdando de Hera left starring odes. During this time they produced many superb play writes.
Lepe de Vega Corpio was another prolific author. He wrote multiple dramas, comedies, and religious plays. Tisco de Monlina and Guillen de Castros Argote were also outstanding play writers.

One of the most famous Spanish painters was Nicolus Factor. He was born in Valencia. He painted devotional images and was a son of a poor tailor.

Inventions

In 1623, the Spanish invented the first graded lenses. This improved the trial and error method of trying on different lenses until the person could finally see better.

Spain Government

Spain government is very interesting, it starts with the president of the government, Jose Luis Rodriquez Zapatero. Spain follows a strict dictatorial policy.
In 1978, Spain was declared as a democratic state. It is similar to a parliament monarchy. One outstanding feature was the restoration of powers to the religion. Spain gained great political stability after democracy was set up.
A lot of changes were introduced in 1975. Spain got freedom from the king and the greedy prime ministers. The type of government was able to remain stable after Spain had fought so many battles.
In the time of the Renaissance, Spain was ruled by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. They were both monarchs. King Ferdinand from Aragon and Queen Isabella from Castile. They were cousins and married to rule Spain together. They were married in 1469. The war ended with the Treaty of Alcoucus, so Isabella was crowned Queen.
King Ferdinand was born on March 10, 1452. He paid for Christopher Columbus’ travel, but people said that he cared for nothing but power and domination as King.
In 1505, to secure his position in Castile, Ferdinand signed a contract to marry Germaine de Foix, the niece of the King of France. He soon realized how much he was needed by the Spanish kingdoms and incorporated it into Castiles, this was one of his most controversial acts of his reign.
In 1513 the King’s health turned bad and he prepared for the succession of his grandson, the future emperor, Charles V.
King Ferdinand and Isabella were convinced when they died through their hard work and labor that the crown of Spain had never been so powerful for 700 years.
